A series of shortwave troughs are forecast to rotate through the
broad upper troughing expected to persist across the central and
eastern CONUS through the weekend. Stable continental air
accompanying these shortwaves will help reinforce the continental
air mass already expected to be in place. At the same time, upper
ridging is expected to remain in place across the western CONUS.
This relatively stagnant upper pattern is not favorable for
thunderstorms across the majority of the CONUS. The only exception
is across central and southern FL where more low-level moisture will
likely persist.
