Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0736 PM CDT Fri Oct 02 2020

Valid 030100Z - 031200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not expected through tonight.

As a mid-level short-wave trough continues moving east-northeastward
across the St. Lawrence Valley and northern New England -- i.e. away
from the Lower Great Lakes -- convection near the Lakes region has
diminished. Potential for more than a few additional lightning
flashes appears minimal overnight, and therefore the 10% thunder
area is being removed.

Thunder has also dissipated over inland south Florida, though
offshore convection -- including isolated thunderstorms -- is
ongoing. Some potential persists that a few storms may spread into
south Florida and the Keys this evening/overnight, and thus will
maintain a small thunder area here -- mainly for coastal areas and
the Keys, along with areas offshore.
