SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1150 PM CDT Sat Oct 03 2020 Valid 041200Z - 051200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the U.S. through tonight. ...Synopsis... In the mid-levels, a large-scale ridge will continue to build across the western CONUS as a trough continues to move across the eastern U.S. Deep-layer subsidence will prevail across much of the CONUS west of the trough axis, limiting convective potential. Elsewhere across the eastern U.S, deep-moist convection is expected to be largely inhibited by a cool, stable low-level air mass. One exception may be portions of the Ohio Valley during the late afternoon/early evening, where deep-layer ascent and marginal low-level buoyancy immediately ahead of the trough axis may support low-topped convection. A couple of lightning flashes cannot be completely ruled out. A couple of flashes may also occur within a warm-air advection regime across the Florida Peninsula and along the shoreline of the Carolinas through the period. ..Squitieri.. 10/04/2020
