SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1153 PM CDT Sun Oct 04 2020 Valid 051200Z - 061200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected through Tuesday morning. ...Synopsis... Broad cyclonic flow aloft will prevail across the central and eastern CONUS through the day, with a mid-level trough ejecting into the Atlantic at the start of the period, and a second trough amplifying across the Mississippi Valley later in the day. Upper ridging will also persist across the western U.S. While marginal buoyancy (and an associated risk for a few thunderstorms) may accompany the departing trough along the lower New England Coast, mass subsidence across the western CONUS, and cool/stable low-level conditions farther east are expected to limit convective potential across most of the CONUS. The main exception will be the Florida Peninsula, where some buoyancy accompanying low-level moist advection may promote a few thunderstorms through the period. ..Squitieri.. 10/05/2020
