Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1153 PM CDT Sun Oct 04 2020

Valid 051200Z - 061200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not expected through Tuesday morning.

Broad cyclonic flow aloft will prevail across the central and
eastern CONUS through the day, with a mid-level trough ejecting into
the Atlantic at the start of the period, and a second trough
amplifying across the Mississippi Valley later in the day. Upper
ridging will also persist across the western U.S. While marginal
buoyancy (and an associated risk for a few thunderstorms) may
accompany the departing trough along the lower New England Coast,
mass subsidence across the western CONUS, and cool/stable low-level
conditions farther east are expected to limit convective potential
across most of the CONUS. The main exception will be the Florida
Peninsula, where some buoyancy accompanying low-level moist
advection may promote a few thunderstorms through the period.
