...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
SOUTHERN LOUISIANA AND FAR SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI...

...SUMMARY...
A tornado is possible over southern Louisiana or far southern
Mississippi late tonight.

...Southern Louisiana/Far Southern Mississippi...
The National Hurricane Center is forecasting Hurricane Delta to
become a major hurricane by this evening as it tracks into the
northwest Gulf of Mexico. The outer bands of Hurricane Delta will
likely overspread southern Louisiana late tonight. Forecast
soundings near Baton Rouge from 06Z to 12Z early on Friday increase
0-1 km shear from 25 to 35 kt. This will be coincident with veering
winds with height and 40 to 50 kt of low-level flow. The wind
profile will be favorable for storm rotation with discrete cells
that move inland. The stronger rotating storms will have an isolated
tornado threat. As a result, a tornado could occur from
south-central Louisiana east-northeastward into far southern
Mississippi late tonight.
