...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
SOUTHERN LOUISIANA...

...SUMMARY...
A tornado is possible over near-coastal southern Louisiana after
midnight tonight.

...Southern Louisiana...
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Delta will
maintain major hurricane status and move through the northwestern
Gulf of Mexico tonight. The outer rainbands of Delta are expected to
move into the coastal sections of Louisiana after 06Z. RAP forecast
soundings along the western and central coast of Louisiana gradually
increase 0-1 km shear from near 20 kt at 06Z to 30 kt by 12Z. This
is mostly due to strengthening low-level flow as Delta approaches.
The strong low-level shear will be favorable for storm rotation as
cells move from the northwestern Gulf of Mexico inland across far
southern Louisiana. Any cell that can exhibit supercell structure
could produce a tornado, but the threat is expected to remain
isolated and primarily in the 06Z to 12Z timeframe early Friday
morning.
