SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1211 PM CDT Mon Oct 12 2020 Valid 131200Z - 141200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Organized severe thunderstorms are not expected across the contiguous United States on Tuesday. ...Synopsis and Discussion... A progressive upper pattern is forecast on Tuesday. A lead shortwave trough will begin the period extending from eastern Ontario southward into GA before then tracking northeastward. A second, low-amplitude shortwave trough will follow in the wake of the first, moving quickly eastward across the OH Valley, while another deeper shortwave moves across western/central Ontario and the Upper Great Lakes. Finally, a shortwave just off the Pacific Northwest/southern British Columbia coast early Tuesday will track quickly eastward/southeastward, reaching the northern Plains by early Wednesday. Predominantly stable conditions will exist ahead of each of these systems. The only exception is ahead of the lead wave across coastal New England, where a few strikes are possible within the warm-air advection zone north of the surface low associated with this shortwave. Cold temperatures aloft and strong forcing for ascent may also result in a few strikes west of the Cascades in WA. ..Mosier.. 10/12/2020
