SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1201 PM CDT Fri Oct 16 2020 Valid 171200Z - 181200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the contiguous United States on Saturday. ...Synopsis and Discussion... A large upper trough will remain over the central U.S. with a broad cyclonic jet extending from the northern Rockies to the Great Lakes. A leading shortwave trough will move across the Northeast, with high pressure over the Mid Atlantic. This will continue to provide relatively stable conditions over the region. Low-level moisture will be most plentiful across south Florida, across the Gulf of Mexico and into eastern Texas with flow around the surface high. A few showers and storms will occur during the day over Florida, but the southern Plains will mainly be capped. An exception may be overnight into northeast Arkansas and vicinity, where southwest 850 mb winds around 40 kt will support theta-e advection, lift, and perhaps sufficient elevated instability for a few lightning strikes. ..Jewell.. 10/16/2020
