SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0756 PM CDT Mon Oct 19 2020 Valid 200100Z - 201200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected through tonight. Broad cyclonic mid-level flow prevails across the northern U.S. at 00Z with an embedded shortwave trough approaching the northern Plains and a downstream trough lifting northeast across northern New England. Surface analysis depicts a nearly stationary surface front extending from western/northern NY southwest through the mid Mississippi Valley and then across central TX. Thunderstorms were scattered in the vicinity of the front from western KY south into northeast TX, where upper 60s to lower 70s dew points were contributing to weak/moderate surface-based instability. Scattered storms are expected to persist along the front through the overnight hours, however generally weak instability should limit overall intensity. Thunderstorms have diminished across the FL peninsula this evening, however widely scattered thunderstorms will remain possible overnight in the presence of a mid-level trough and weak/moderate instability. ..Bunting.. 10/20/2020
