SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0726 PM CDT Thu Oct 29 2020 Valid 300100Z - 301200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE CAROLINAS INTO SOUTHEAST VIRGINIA... ...SUMMARY... Isolated severe convective gusts and perhaps a tornado may occur tonight from the Carolinas into southeast Virginia. ...01z Update... Boundary-layer moisture has yet to be displaced along a pre-frontal corridor from northern FL-Carolinas-southeast VA. This zone remains at least somewhat favorable for deep convection ahead of a strong short-wave trough that is ejecting across the Mid-South this evening. Latest water-vapor imagery depicts this feature well and the leading edge of large-scale forcing for ascent should spread across the southern Appalachians into the Middle Atlantic over the next several hours. Radar data suggests this is beginning to occur with scattered convection now slowly developing from western SC into portions of south-central VA. Will maintain low severe probabilities for primarily a few wind gusts with the strongest convection ahead of the short wave. ..Darrow.. 10/30/2020
