General thunderstorms are only expected across south Florida. ...20z Update... The ongoing forecast remain on track and no changes have been made with this update cycle. Isolated thunderstorms have been noted across parts of southern FL this afternoon. This activity may persist into this evening. See previous discussion below for more details. ..Leitman.. 10/30/2020 .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 1126 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2020/ ...Discussion... The potential for deep convection will be virtually nil across the CONUS in the wake of the eastern states frontal passage, with the exception of a moist air mass persisting near the front across southern Florida, where thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon into tonight. Thunderstorm development by mid-afternoon is most probable across the far southern Florida Peninsula, and in particular near the southeast coast. A few of these storms could contain gusty downburst winds, but severe thunderstorms are unlikely in the presence of weak mid-level lapse rates and feeble deep-layer shear (effective shear 10 kt or less).
