SPC 2000Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0251 PM CDT Sat Oct 31 2020 Valid 312000Z - 011200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Isolated thunderstorms will persist this afternoon over southern parts of the Florida Peninsula. ...Discussion... With a few lightning flashes observed over south Florida at this time, and no thunderstorms expected elsewhere, the prior outlook area/reasoning appears consistent with ongoing and expected convective activity. As such, no changes to the outlook are necessary at this time. ..Goss.. 10/31/2020 .PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 1129 AM CDT Sat Oct 31 2020/ ...Synopsis and Discussion... Large-scale trough amplification will over the northern Plains and much of the Midwest tonight. Limited moisture and little if any instability will considerably limit the potential for thunderstorms across the CONUS with the exception of southern Florida. Across southern Florida, low/mid 70s F surface dewpoints in vicinity of a stalled front in conjunction with 1000-1500 J/kg MLCAPE will allow for occasional/isolated thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms are unlikely, however.
