SPC 1300Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0647 AM CST Thu Nov 05 2020 Valid 051300Z - 061200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the contiguous U.S. today. ...South FL... While low-level moisture has increased over the past 24 hours (reference 12Z Miami sounding), a dry and subsident layer persists aloft in the mid-levels which has aided in suppressing thunderstorm development thus far. Gradual moistening is expected to continue through the period and diurnal heating should be sufficient for isolated thunderstorms later this afternoon that may linger into tonight, especially along the Atlantic Coast. Weak effective bulk shear will limit potential for any organized severe storms. ...OR/CA Coastal Border... Intense mid-level height falls are forecast to spread inland late in the period ahead of an upper low that should approach the northern CA coast early Friday. Forecast soundings along the coast suggest strong mid-level cooling during the 09-12Z period will steepen lapse rates and may prove adequate for isolated low-topped convection capable of lightning. ..Grams.. 11/05/2020
