SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1132 PM CST Sat Nov 07 2020 Valid 081200Z - 091200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTHERN FLORIDA THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT... ...SUMMARY... A tornado threat may exist late this afternoon into tonight across southern Florida as Tropical Storm Eta approaches. ...Southern Florida... Tropical Storm Eta is forecast by the National Hurricane Center to move north/northwest toward southern FL and the Florida Keys later today and tonight. Ahead of Eta, low-level moisture will increase, as will low-level wind fields, by mid-to-late afternoon. Cloud cover and early shower activity as outer bands begin impacting the area will limit destabilization across the southern FL Peninsula/Keys. Nevertheless, enough instability should be present and overlapping strong vertical low-level shear to support low-level rotation in stronger cells. As such, a tornado or two could occur with any rotating cells that develop, though this threat is likely to remain short-lived and transient. The greatest risk is expected to develop by late afternoon and spread northwest with time through Sunday night and into early Monday morning. ..Leitman.. 11/08/2020
