SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1108 AM CST Sun Nov 15 2020 Valid 161200Z - 171200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the contiguous United States on Monday. ...Synopsis and Discussion... Large-scale upper troughing will persist over the eastern states on Monday, while upper ridging builds over the western CONUS. At the surface, high pressure will dominate much of the CONUS, with offshore low-level trajectories continuing over the majority of the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. The only appreciable thunderstorm potential on Monday will be limited to parts of the central and southern FL Peninsula. Here, a southward-moving cold front should provide a focus for convective development. Even though mid-level lapse rates will remain poor, there may still be enough instability during the daytime hours for occasional lightning flashes with the strongest updrafts along/south of the front. Weak deep-layer shear is expected to preclude organized severe thunderstorm potential across this region. ..Gleason.. 11/15/2020
