Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Valid 181300Z - 191200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not expected today through tonight.

A progressive large-scale flow pattern will continue through
tonight/early Thursday. With mean troughing over the Pacific
Northwest and northern Rockies, adequate moisture and steep lapse
rates will support a relatively long duration of isolated
thunderstorm potential in/near coastal portions of Washington/Oregon
and northern California today into this evening. Additionally, the
potential for a few thunderstorms will extend eastward into eastern
Washington/eastern Oregon and Idaho this afternoon and early evening
as an embedded shortwave trough crosses over the region and as weak
buoyancy is diurnally maximized. Elsewhere, upper ridging and
associated high pressure across the eastern half of the CONUS will
preclude thunderstorms east of the Rockies.
