Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1120 PM CST Wed Nov 18 2020

Valid 191200Z - 201200Z

Aside from portions of the Pacific Northwest coast vicinity, the
risk for thunderstorms appears negligible across much of the U.S.
Thursday through Thursday night.

A zonally oriented pattern aloft will persist across the Lower 48
today, with weak/subtle shortwave troughs migrating across the
Northwest. These troughs (and the cold air aloft associated with
them) may create enough mid-level instability for convection and a
few lightning flashes through early evening.

Elsewhere, an anticyclone centered over the Southeast will maintain
relatively stable conditions across much of the remainder of the
CONUS. Return flow/low-level moistening will occur across Texas and
Oklahoma (especially late), but the moistening will likely not be
enough to foster deep, lightning-producing convection.
