...Texas to central Gulf Coast...
A compact upper low is currently over NM, and will track into west
TX later today and tonight. Large scale forcing for ascent ahead of
this feature is overspreading the southern Plains, leading to areas
of showers and thunderstorms from western OK into much of TX and
southwest LA. This activity is elevated above a cool/stable
near-surface layer. While small hail could occur in the strongest
cells, severe weather is not anticipated today. Later this evening
and tonight, scattered thunderstorms will likely spread eastward
along the Gulf coast into parts of LA and MS.
