...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...

...SUMMARY...
Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the conus through the
Day 1 forecast period.

...Synopsis...
A potent shortwave trough over the Delmarva peninsula is forecast to
intensify as it moves northeastward along the New England coast
through this afternoon. At the surface, a bomb cyclone will support
a broad shield of mixed/wintry precipitation across coastal New
England. A few lightning flashes may accompany embedded deeper
convection. A trailing cold front will extend southward across the
western Atlantic and into western Florida where a few diurnal
thunderstorms are possible.

Across the western US, a large mid-level anticyclone will be located
over the Great Basin. To its south, a cutoff low over northern
Mexico is forecast to slowly drift to the east. Modest mid-level
height falls from the approaching upper-low and a warm and moist air
mass near the Gulf of Mexico will support a few general
thunderstorms across coastal Texas.
