SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0649 PM CST Sun Dec 06 2020 Valid 070100Z - 071200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR SOUTH FLORIDA AND THE KEYS... ...SUMMARY... Locally damaging winds and a brief tornado are possible across south Florida and the Keys late tonight through early Monday morning. ...South FL... Water-vapor imagery this evening shows a mid-level shortwave trough over the northwest Gulf Coast. This disturbance is forecast to move eastward over the northern Gulf Coast tonight. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to increase in coverage over the southeast Gulf tonight and gradually move towards the FL Keys and South FL late. The 00z Key West raob showed modest lapse rates and 400 J/kg MLCAPE but weak flow in the lowest 3km. Strengthening low-level warm air advection tonight will result in stronger flow and moistening in the low levels. This change in the environment tonight will concurrently support increased potential for organized storm structures. A few of the stronger storms could yield a localized wind/brief tornado risk primarily during the 06-12z period. ..Smith.. 12/07/2020
