SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1124 PM CST Wed Dec 09 2020 Valid 101200Z - 111200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast across the contiguous United States through tonight. ...Synopsis... A mid-level low/trough near the Sonora/Arizona border will weaken during the day as it moves east across the southern Rockies and into the southern High Plains by daybreak Friday. In the low levels, limited surface reflection in the form of a weak low is progged over the southern Great Plains primarily during the latter half of the period. Clusters of clouds and showers are forecast over the Desert Southwest today. Pockets of weak instability associated with cold mid-level temperatures will promote isolated thunderstorms from AZ eastward into NM. By this evening, strengthening 850-700 mb warm advection will gradually spur the development of showers and perhaps a few widely spaced thunderstorms from the southern High Plains eastward into central and northern parts of TX/OK late overnight. Scant instability will preclude strong storms. ..Smith/Lyons.. 12/10/2020
