SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0638 PM CST Thu Dec 10 2020 Valid 110100Z - 111200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not forecast through tonight across the contiguous United States. ...Synopsis... Water-vapor imagery this evening shows a potent mid-level shortwave trough over western NM, and this feature is forecast to move into the southern High Plains by early Friday morning. Strong differential cyclonic vorticity advection has likely contributed to a few thunderstorms over NM this evening with the El Paso, TX 00z raob sampling marginal instability (near 100 J/kg MUCAPE). However, thunderstorm activity will shift away from the mid-level vorticity lobe early this evening to a zone of increasing isentropic lift located from southwest TX northeastward into central OK late tonight. A gradual increase in shower coverage with a few widely spaced thunderstorms are possible, mainly 08-12 UTC (2am-6am CST). ..Smith.. 12/11/2020
