SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1056 PM CST Mon Dec 21 2020 Valid 221200Z - 231200Z ...NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Thunderstorms are not expected through Wednesday morning. ...Synopsis and Discussion... An upper trough is forecast to deepen significantly as it develops south and east across the Rockies and into the Plains. Low pressure will deepen over the Dakotas during the day, traveling east across MN overnight. A cold front will move from the northern High Plains at 00Z into central Plains by 12Z Wednesday. Although lift will be present in association with this trough, high pressure over the Southeast will limit moisture return across the Plains. While 50s F dewpoints will stream north into OK and KS and interact with the cold front overnight, forecast soundings indicate little if any instability for thunderstorms. ..Jewell.. 12/22/2020
