SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1056 AM CST Fri Dec 25 2020 Valid 261200Z - 271200Z ...NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Thunderstorms are not expected in the continental United States on Saturday or Saturday night. ...Discussion... As an eastern U.S. upper trough gradually shifts northeastward across New England and into eastern Canada and the Maritimes, a lower-amplitude/more zonal flow field will prevail across the U.S. in its wake. In the West, a short-wave trough moving onshore early in the period will cross the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West, emerging into the Plains late. A weak surface low/cold front accompanying the upper system will likewise cross the Western U.S. and eventually move into the Plains. However, a largely cool/stable airmass will prevail across the country, precluding any appreciable threat for thunderstorm activity with this system, or elsewhere across the CONUS. ..Goss.. 12/25/2020
