Day 2 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1244 AM CST Sat Dec 26 2020

Valid 271200Z - 281200Z

Isolated non-severe thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday across
far southeast Florida and along the coast of California.

A weak upper-level trough will move eastward across the southeastern
Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. Ahead of the trough, low-level moisture is
forecast to be maximized between Cuba and the Florida Keys where
surface dewpoints should be in the lower 60s F. Further north into
southeastern Florida, dewpoints should reach the upper 50s F. In
response, weak instability may be enough for isolated lightning
strikes near and just to the north of Miami Sunday afternoon as
convection develops ahead of the trough. Lightning strikes will also
be possible Sunday night as an upper-level low approaches the
central California coast. No severe thunderstorms are expected
across the continental United States Sunday or Sunday night.
