SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1112 AM CST Sat Dec 26 2020 Valid 271200Z - 281200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... No severe weather is expected across the U.S. on Sunday. ...Discussion... Relatively low-amplitude/progressive flow aloft is progged across the U.S. Sunday, as a fast-moving short-wave trough shifts eastward out of the Plains and across the Midwest/Ohio Valley. Farther west, an eastern Pacific trough is expected to reach California late in the period. At the surface, a weak cold front will shift eastward across the Midwest and southward across the southern Plains, as cold high pressure advances southward into the central U.S. in its wake. Given stable conditions that will prevail over most of the country, thunderstorm activity will remain minimal. Showers, and a few lightning flashes, may evolve overnight in the vicinity of the southeastern Florida coast, near an evolving/weak surface lee trough. Showers, and a lightning flash or two, are also expected over coastal central California late, as the upper low approaches. Otherwise, thunderstorms are not expected across the CONUS. ..Goss.. 12/26/2020
