SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0627 PM CST Mon Dec 28 2020 Valid 290100Z - 291200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not expected tonight. ...01z Update... Only minor changes have been made to the 20z outlook, namely to lower thunder probabilities north of LAX. Early-evening water vapor imagery depicts a well-defined upper low drifting southeast along the southern CA coast. Large-scale forcing for ascent will gradually spread inland along with more favorable lapse rates that have supported isolated thunderstorm activity. As this feature approaches the lower CO River Valley, the threat for lightning should wane over coastal southern CA. Downstream, weak elevated convection may develop across the central Plains later tonight. A few flashes of lightning can not be ruled out, with the primary threat being delayed until later in the day2 period. ..Darrow.. 12/29/2020
