NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1142 PM CST Tue Jan 12 2021

Valid 141200Z - 151200Z

No thunderstorms are expected over the U.S. mainland on Thursday.

An upper trough will amplify and evolve into a closed synoptic low
as it moves from the Plains Thursday to the Midwest and upper Great
Lakes by early Friday. A cold front accompanying this feature will
stretch from the upper MS Valley into the southern Plains Thursday
morning. This boundary should extend from an occluded low over the
upper Great Lakes, through the central and southern Appalachians to
the central Gulf Coast States by 12Z Friday. There will not be
sufficient time for any substantive Gulf moisture return preceding
this front. This will result in stable conditions and limited
thunderstorm prospects.
