SPC 0700Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1258 AM CST Thu Jan 28 2021 Valid 291200Z - 301200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe weather is not expected across the U.S. on Friday. ...Synopsis... As an upper low centered over New England shifts offshore Friday, a western U.S. trough will move across California and into the Great Basin through the day, and then across the Four Corners states to the central and southern High Plains area by Saturday morning. As this occurs, a surface low is expected to eventually consolidate near the southeastern Colorado/Southwestern Kansas/Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles late, along a cold front that will be shifting across the southwestern quarter of the country through the period. Scattered showers will spread across portions of the West through the day, with a few/embedded lightning flashes accompanying. This convection -- and perhaps accompanied by minimal lightning -- may reach as far east as the Oklahoma/northern Texas vicinity by the end of the period, as some Pacific-origin moistening occurs on southwesterly flow within the 700 to 500 mb layer. ..Goss.. 01/28/2021
