SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0639 PM CST Fri Jan 29 2021 Valid 300100Z - 301200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Thunderstorm potential will shift into the southern and central Plains later tonight. ...01z Update... Strong upper trough is shifting east across the lower CO River Valley this evening. A few flashes of lightning may yet be noted with weak convection within the trough for the next few hours. 00z sounding from VEF exhibited a few hundred J/kg SBCAPE but the loss of diurnal heating should lessen the lightning threat soon. Later tonight, LLJ will increase across western OK into eastern KS. Isolated thunderstorms are currently noted within the warm conveyor over southeast NM and this activity should spread northeast into the TX South Plains in the next few hours. Later tonight, low-level warm advection should contribute to a more concentrated corridor of convection from the eastern TX Panhandle-western OK-south-central KS. Buoyancy will be too weak to warrant any meaningful threat for severe. ..Darrow.. 01/30/2021
