SPC 0700Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1233 AM CST Wed Feb 03 2021 Valid 041200Z - 051200Z ...NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Thunderstorms are not expected on Thursday. ...Synopsis... A broad and deep upper trough is forecast to cover much of the western and central CONUS early Thursday morning, with modest upper ridging in place east of this trough, from the TN Valley into Quebec. Shortwave trough embedded within the larger parent trough is expected to progress quickly eastward/northeastward from the central Plains across the Mid MS Valley and Lower OH Valley, reaching the Upper Great Lakes/Mid OH Valley by early Friday morning. Another shortwave trough is expected to move through the western portion of the parent trough, crossing the Great Basin and the Southwest and reaching the Southern Plains by early Friday. This pattern evolution will result in upper troughing across the entire CONUS by early Friday morning. Surface low associated with the lead shortwave trough is forecast to begin the period over eastern KS before moving quickly northeastward. Expectation is for this low to be centered over the Upper Great Lakes by early Friday morning. A cold front will extend from this low and sweep quickly eastward as the low moves northeastward. Some modest low-level moisture may precede this front from the southern Plains across the Southeast, but warm temperatures aloft and limited diurnal heating will temper buoyancy. As such, no thunderstorms are currently expected. ..Mosier.. 02/03/2021
