SPC 1630Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1006 AM CST Wed Feb 03 2021 Valid 031630Z - 041200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Isolated thunderstorms may occur later this afternoon and evening across western Colorado, eastern Utah, and vicinity. ..Eastern UT/Western CO... No changes have been made to the ongoing forecast. A strong upper trough will dig into the northwest states today, with a cold front pushing southeastward across the Great Basin and into the central Rockies. Forecast soundings ahead of the front show relatively steep mid level lapse rates and weak-but-sufficient CAPE for scattered convection. A few of the showers may become deep enough for occasional lightning flashes. Very strong tropospheric wind fields, coupled with daytime heating and steepening low-level lapse rates suggest that gusty winds may accompany the more intense showers/thunderstorms. ..Hart.. 02/03/2021
