SPC 0700Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1128 PM CST Sun Feb 07 2021 Valid 091200Z - 101200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Organized severe storms are not forecast on Tuesday. ...Synopsis... A weak shortwave impulse, embedded within larger scale upper troughing across much of the CONUS, will spread eastward across the Southeast and into the Atlantic waters offshore from the Carolinas on Tuesday. At the same time, another shortwave trough will dig southward across the western U.S., resulting in weak lee trough/surface low development over the southern High Plains. This will keep persistent south/southwesterly low/midlevel flow over the Gulf coast vicinity from TX through northern FL. Strong surface high pressure over the northern Plains and Midwest will preclude the northward advance of a stationary boundary just offshore from the central Gulf coast into northern FL. Nevertheless, showers and isolated elevated thunderstorms are possible in isentropic ascent from the mouth of the MS River eastward along the central Gulf coast and northern FL. Modest midlevel lapse rates and moderate shear will reside over the region, perhaps resulting in a couple of stronger storms. However, upper forcing will remain weak and instability limited as richer moisture remains offshore over the Gulf. As such, severe storms are not expected. ..Leitman.. 02/08/2021
