SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1104 PM CST Mon Feb 08 2021 Valid 091200Z - 101200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe thunderstorms are not forecast through tonight across the contiguous United States. ...Synopsis... In the midlevels, a mean trough over the Midwest will continue to deamplify during the morning with quasi-zonal flow extending from the central Great Plains east to the Atlantic coast. A minor perturbation over the northwest Gulf Coast at daybreak will move east along the northern Gulf Coast and weaken during the day. A zone of low-level warm air advection over the northeastern Gulf Coast during the morning will concurrently weaken during the day. Elevated weak instability will contribute to a focused area of scattered thunderstorms during the morning over the northeast Gulf Coast. Ample effective shear (50 kt) could lead to a locally strong storm with small hail. The shower and thunderstorm activity will likely lessen in coverage by early afternoon as it shifts generally east of I-75 in southern GA/north FL. ..Smith.. 02/09/2021
