Day 2 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1127 PM CST Mon Feb 08 2021

Valid 101200Z - 111200Z

Organized severe thunderstorms are not forecast on Wednesday.

A shortwave upper trough over the southwestern U.S./northwest Mexico
Wednesday morning is forecast to track eastward to the
central/southern High Plains and northern Mexico vicinity by
Thursday morning. At the surface, high pressure will encompass much
of the northern U.S. into the Midwest. The arctic airmass associated
with this high pressure will continue surging southward across the
southern Plains/TX. The arctic front will sag southward from the
mid-South to the lower MS Valley and into south TX.

South/southwesterly low/midlevel flow ahead of the front and upper
trough will result in a warm advection regime from parts of TX
through the Gulf coast states. Isentropic ascent will lead to
showers and isolated thunderstorms from TX through portions of the
Southeast. Thunderstorm activity will be elevated, to the cool side
of the front given boundary-parallel shear vectors. Meanwhile,
instability also will remain limited, with higher-quality moisture
remaining offshore over the Gulf. As such, organized severe storms
are not anticipated.
