Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1129 PM CST Tue Feb 09 2021

Valid 101200Z - 111200Z

Severe thunderstorms are not forecast through tonight across the
contiguous United States.

A powerful upper jet will reside over the Great Lakes/Northeast as
the primary belt of strong westerlies extends from the Pacific
Northwest through the Upper Midwest and into the Northeast. An
upper trough over the Southwest will gradually move east and reach
the southern High Plains by daybreak Thursday. In the low levels, a
stationary front will arc from the Mid South into the Rio Grande
Valley and westward to the southern Rockies. Strengthening
low-level warm/moist advection in the right-entrance region of the
upper jet by early evening, will lead to increased clouds and the
development of showers and isolated thunderstorms, north of the
stationary front from the Arklatex northeastward into the northern
MS/western TN vicinity. Weak instability (MUCAPE ranging 200-1000
J/kg from TN to TX) will act to limit updraft vigor and severe
weather is not expected.
