Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0700 AM CST Fri Feb 19 2021 Valid 191300Z - 201200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... A couple of strong storms could occur today across the central Florida Peninsula, but the potential for organized severe thunderstorms should remain low. ...Synopsis/Discussion... A phasing of multiple shortwave troughs will continue over the upper Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic/Northeast States through tonight. A related cold front will make a southeastward progression across the Florida Peninsula today, with scattered bands of showers ongoing early today in vicinity of the front. Although mid-level lapse rates will remain weak, moderate heating ahead of the front should allow for the development of thunderstorms, with some degree of intensification into afternoon. A couple of strong storms could occur mainly across the east-central Florida Peninsula, but the organized severe potential is currently expected to remain low. In the West, a shortwave trough will move inland late tonight over southwest Oregon and northern California. This will include the possibility for isolated thunderstorms along the northern California coast and offshore waters. ..Guyer/Smith.. 02/19/2021
