SPC 1730Z Day 2 Outlook
Day 2 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1112 AM CST Fri Feb 19 2021 Valid 201200Z - 211200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... A few thunderstorms will be possible across a portion of the Great Basin Saturday afternoon. ...Great Basin area... Steepening lapse rates due to surface heating and cooling mid-level temperatures (-25 to -30 C at 500 mb) associated with the approach of a shortwave trough will contribute to weak instability (100-300 J/kg MLCAPE) Saturday afternoon. This environment along with modest forcing for ascent will result in isolated showers, a few of which might become capable of lightning flashes before diminishing during the evening. Limited moisture and instability suggest coverage of any thunderstorms should remain sparse. ..Dial.. 02/19/2021
